This Week @ SR - January 13, 2025

Hello students and families! 

We had a busy and productive week back to school. We are fully back into the swing of things and ready to make 2025 a great year.  

Students and staff participated in two important activities this week that you should be aware of: 

On Wednesday, we practiced our school safety lockdown procedures. We reviewed the following slides (English Link) (Spanish Link). Our students did a great job following directions and taking the practice seriously.  

On Friday, students watched the following video (English Link) (Spanish Link) which includes advice from staff on how to be successful in the new semester. Students also set a goal for themselves which we will help them monitor throughout the rest of the school year. Be sure to ask your teen what their goal are for the rest of the year.

Off the Leash is a digital publication created by San Rafael High School students in Lit 12 Journalism. We are excited to share their stories and ideas with all members of the school community.   That, of course, means parents, teachers, staff, neighbors, alums, board members,  administrators, and coaches as well as students. Girls Who Code’s virtual Summer Programs are now accepting applications! 

Girls Who Code offers different program options so high school students can choose what’s right for them - no coding experience required!

• The Summer Immersion Program (SIP) is a two-week live virtual classroom experience where students will meet like-minded peers as they design creative computer games, gain practical college and career advice from industry professionals, and explore tech careers. Eligible applicants can apply for a $300 SIP Student Grant, plus laptop and hotspot access.

• Pathways is a flexible, six-week program for students to learn at their own pace with step-by-step video tutorials. Participants can explore cutting-edge topics like cybersecurity, data science, and–brand-new for 2025–responsible artificial intelligence design.
