PRINCIPAL’S END OF THE YEAR UPDATE
Dear Seniors and families:
Congratulations to all of you for making it to this final stretch of your high school career! I’d like to take a moment to check in about Spring semester academic and behavioral expectations. For all seniors this is a period of transition. The excitement, stress, and anxiety of this time period can sometimes result in a feeling that school is no longer a priority, and that it is acceptable for grades, attendance, and behavior to slip. This is simply not the case! We are committed to working with seniors to ensure that everyone finishes the year successfully at San Rafael High.
We will meet with all of our seniors to congratulate them on making it to this point, and also remind them to stay focused on school. School rules apply to the end of the year, and any inappropriate, illegal or dangerous activities will not be tolerated. I am asking parents to help the school prevent students from participating in pranks and other “poor choice” activities. The school will take a hard line on students caught engaging in these activities. Depending upon the circumstances, students may face consequences such as suspension, loss of extra-curricular activities, loss of Senior year activities (including participation in the Senior Prom, Senior Cap & Gown Pick Up and graduation ceremonies), and possible recommendation for expulsion. In addition, if the law is broken, law enforcement will be contacted.
I also want to let you know that participation in the many special events for Seniors such as the Senior Prom, Senior Cap & Gown Pick Up and graduation ceremony are a privilege extended to students in “good standing” at school. A student’s “good standing” is based on their behavior, attendance, and academics for the entire school year. As we move into the 4th quarter, a student in “good standing” must meet the following criteria in order to participate in these events:
I ask you to take some time and discuss these issues with your student. Feel free to call the assistant principals or me should you have any questions. We look forward to a positive, productive, and enjoyable spring with our senior class.
Sincerely,
Joe Ryan Dominguez (he/him)
Principal | San Rafael High School
