Welcome to San Rafael High School Counseling and the 2026-27 School Year!

Welcome back to a new school year! We hope you had a restful summer and are looking forward to a successful year ahead. As we begin the new school year, there have been some changes to counselor caseloads. These adjustments will help us balance student needs and ensure that each student continues to receive the support, guidance, and resources they need to thrive.

Please take a moment to review your student’s updated counselor assignment. Your student’s counselor will be your primary point of contact for academic planning, postsecondary and career planning, social-emotional support, and other counseling needs throughout the year. For rising seniors, we will be sending out a separate communication regarding the college application process/letters of recommendation, etc.

Our counseling team is here to support students both academically and emotionally. We work within these 3 domains: Academic, Social- Emotional, and College and Career.

We promote and enhance the learning process as students navigate their high school careers and plan for life after graduation. Counselors meet with their students each year to review academic progress and concerns. Parents and students are welcome to make appointments or email counselors to discuss curriculum, class scheduling, post high school plans, etc.

What can your counselor do for you?

  • Assist with designing a course of study, and with making appropriate scheduling changes within the defined time limit.
  • Help you meet high school graduation requirements and 2 or 4 year college requirements.
  • Help you to gain the skills you need to succeed in high school and beyond.
  • Help whenever you are having academic or personal challenges.
  • Support in connecting you to resources on and off campus to meet your goals.
