Work permits are required for students ages 14-17 who wish to work. The San Rafael School District’s rules regarding legal work hours for students are:
If a student continues on the same job during the summer and into the fall, he/she must renew their permit by September 15th of the new school year. Students need a new permit for every new job that they obtain as long as they are under the age of 18 years.

ALL MINORS AGES 12 THROUGH 17 MUST HAVE A “PERMIT TO EMPLOY AND WORK” ON FILE WITH THE EMPLOYER DURING THE TERM OF THE EMPLOYMENT, THIS PERMIT IS RETURNED TO THE MINOR UPON TERMINATION.
