Principal's Update

Good Afternoon Bulldogs & Families!

Don’t forget that next week is Homecoming! Here is a reminder of what to expect:

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is “DAWGChella” in the spirit of the yearly music festival.

Monday, September 28th:

Students: The theme is "Night Under The Stars!” Wear all black on Monday and keep in mind that facepaint is not appropriate for this activity.

Entire Community: We will induct former SRHS teacher, Bill Costello and alumnus Harry Miller to the SRHS Hall of Honor (6:00 pm in the SRHS Hayes Theater). We will also recognize Pam & Tom “Pat” Collins with the Golden Bulldog Award for their immense support of SRHS. The entire community is invited to attend.

Tuesday, September 29th:

Students: The theme is “Adam Sandler Day!” Baggy basketball shorts, a T-shirt and sandals will do.

Wednesday, September 30th:

Students: The theme is “Flashing Lights!” Dress up in neon bright colors.

Thursday, October 1st:

Students: The theme is “Battle of the Classes!” Each class is assigned a different theme to see which group has the most spirit:

Freshmen: Babies!
Sophomores: Nerds!

Juniors: Superheros!

Seniors: Togas!

Staff: 80s!

Friday, October 2nd:

Students: The theme is Country Day! Deck out in your flannels, boots and cowboy hats to school and at the football game! The entire school will participate in a spirit rally during advisory to get excited for that evening’s festivities.

Entire Community: Join us for the Homecoming Parade and the Homecoming Football game on Friday Evening!

The parade begins at 4:00 pm and we will travel down 4th street downtown. We will showcase our clubs, sports and community!

The Homecoming football games begin at 4:30 pm for the JV team and 7:00 pm for Varsity. Both teams are competing against Hercules High School and we will crown the Homecoming Royalty during halftime!

Saturday, October 3rd:

Students: The homecoming dance is from 6:30 - 9:00 pm in the SRHS Gym. Tickets are not sold at the door so make sure you purchase yours by Friday 10/2, at the student store during brunch or lunch! $25 per student.

SEPTEMBER is Attendance Awareness Month

TARDIES -

In June of 2025, SR’s journalism class published this article about chronic tardiness in Off the Leash. After a full school year, systemic challenges like transportation still persists, and too many students still have the bad habit of “show[ing] up at school whenever they feel like it.”

The infographic below shows the number of tardies per period since August 24. Periods 1 and 4, shown in orange, are the first classes of the day and have the highest number of tardies. Tardiness due to public transportation limits and traffic congestion are not acceptable, but make sense in the context of on-time attendance first thing in the morning. There are no systemic or other reasons for students to be late any other period. In fact, students who are late to class after lunch - 3rd and 6th period and portrayed on the graph in purple - serve lunch detention the following day.

Students who are tardy demonstrate a lack of respect for their own learning, and disrupt the classroom by their lateness. You can help your student to be on time by supporting their time management and instituting consequences at home.

Class of 2027 Cap & Gown Ordering Info

Hello Senior Parents,

It's hard to believe, but graduation is a few, short months away!

Jostens, Bill Reid, will be on campus next Thursday, September 17th during Brunch and Lunch in the Courtyard to accept orders for graduation including the Cap and Gown (an order form is attached). Now is the time to place your order for not only the required cap and gown, but also your graduation announcements, senior apparel and graduation rings.

All the items will be on display on September 17th for your review. Orders are accepted either at school on September 17th , through the mail, or online using the link below. Remember, each senior needs to order their cap and gown at the very least. No exceptions!
