About the Science Department

The San Rafael High School Science program consists of college  preparatory offerings of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Physiology.  Our accelerated program consists of honors courses in Biology,  Chemistry and Physics using college level texts and approaches. This  advanced program continues in Advanced Placement courses in Biology  and Physics (an independent study course), and this year we are  starting to offer AP Environmental Science. A preparatory Physical/ Earth Science course provides experience in science laboratory  methodology and research approaches for students before taking  Biology and Chemistry. In addition, the Science department provides a  Science based one semester Health course for all students in their freshman year.
