Attendance matters! Please read this one page document (English or Spanish) that explains the steps SRHS is taking to ensure students are in class and on time.  Here are some things your family can continue to do to help with positive attendance:

• Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. 

• Schedule all non-urgent appointments after school hours. 

• Only take vacation or visit relatives during school vacations, not when school is in session.

• Send your child to school every day unless they are truly sick. 

• Let the school know if your student has problems in class, for example, is being bullied. 

• Be sure to call the attendance office at (415) 485-2335 or bring a note whenever your student is absent. 
  
  

Meet Lissa Ferreira, Our New Administrative Assistant over Attendance

Ms. Lissa joined SR last semester to head up the drama program and is thrilled to expand her role on campus this year as the Attendance Secretary. She looks forward to the daily face-to-face time with students that the attendance office brings, sharing her guiding philosophy: "There is no substitute for being present."

Beyond the front desk, Ms. Lissa will be busy directing three upcoming plays. She is also currently learning Spanish and is especially eager to connect with and support our Spanish-speaking students and families. Stop by the main office and say hello, or hola!

Meet Debbie, Trimble, Administrative Assistant

A familiar face with 18 years of dedication to SHRS, Ms. Trimble is a cornerstone of our school community. From supporting athletics and assisting at the nurse’s station to managing school attendance, she helps keep our school running smoothly every day. Over the past two years, she has also loved supporting the Italian Club and chaperoning their field trips.

Ms. Trimble asks that families please call ahead when students have daytime appointments so passes can be issued in a timely manner. She also wants to remind all students of the vital role daily attendance plays in their academic journey: “Attendance is your education. Education is your key to success."

The next time you are in the main office, be sure to stop by and give Ms. Trimble a warm greeting!

As we start the new school year, I want to encourage all of us to help students make safe, smart choices about how they get to and from campus. Walking, biking, carpooling, and public transit are great ways for high school students to stay active, reduce traffic, and contribute to green travel with less pollution.

If your student bikes, please ensure they wear a helmet (and passenger riders), follow the rules of the road, and ride predictably. If they ride an e-bike or e-scooter, it’s important to know that Marin County law requires riders to be at least 16 years old to operate Class 2 throttle e-bikes or e-scooters. E-motos (non-compliant Class 2 e-bikes) remain illegal on our public roads and pathways for all users. For their safety—and to stay compliant with local law—please do not allow your student to ride them. Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes remain legal for students of all ages. These rules exist because we’ve seen an increase in serious crashes among younger, less experienced riders. Please talk with your student about safe riding practices—not only for their own protection, but also to keep others safe on the road.

If your student drives to school, remind them to follow all traffic laws, avoid distractions, and be extra alert near schools—especially in the mornings and afternoons when younger students are walking and biking. Slowing down and staying attentive can prevent serious accidents and protect our most vulnerable road users.
