This Week @ SR!   |  August 21, 2026

Principal's Back to School Communication

Good Afternoon Bulldogs & Families!

This has been one of the smoothest starts to the year I've experienced, and it's all thanks to you-our students, families, teachers, and staff-for being in such high spirits and ready to roll with unexpected hurdles like construction barriers and traffic issues. Great job, everyone!

As we look forward to our first full week of school, I want to make sure you know it's a SPIRIT WEEK! Join in the fun and dress up as we ramp up to the Bell Game on Friday!

Monday: Pajama day

Tuesday: Jersey day

Wednesday: Beach day

Thursday: Class colors!

Freshmen: purple

Sophomores: green

Juniors: blue

Seniors: pink

Friday: Extreme red and white!

We will also have our Back to School / Bell game rally next Friday to cheer on the JV and Varsity Football teams as they match up against TL. I have zero doubt that we’ll keep the Bell right here at SR for another year.

Of course, that isn’t the only home game happening next week. Come out to see Girls Tennis, on Wednesday at 4:00, and Girls Volleyball (all levels) Thursday beginning at 4:30 pm.

You may have also seen our announcement yesterday that our annual Back To School Night has been rescheduled to Thursday, September 10th and our “minimum” school day has moved to Friday, September 11th. I apologize for the last minute change but I am hoping this move will help our families that have students at both DMS and SR.

That's all from me today…be sure to check out additional announcements below!

Have a great weekend!

Important Campus Updates from the Dean of Students - New Tardy Policy

New Tardy Policy

To maximize instructional time and minimize classroom disruptions, San Rafael High School is implementing a campus-wide tardy initiative. We are currently prioritizing punctuality immediately following lunch to help students establish a consistent routine for their afternoon classes.

How the Process works:

Prompt Entrance: As soon as the tardy bell rings following lunch, classroom doors will close.

Detention: Students entering after the bell will be handed a standardized detention reminder notice and marked tardy in our system.

Parking Enforcement at Montecito

In addition to our internal policies, we want to remind families regarding parking in the neighborhood. Any vehicles observed parking at the Montecito shopping center will be subject to towing. Management has added additional signage to ensure parking remains available for customers and tenants.

Student Drop Off
Please allow enough time to drop off your student each morning in the
Main Lot off of Third Street.
You will NOT be able to drop off your student on Mission Ave due to ongoing construction!
Please use the lane in the photo above to drop-off/pick-up your students to not cause a traffic jam in the parking lot.
