Principal's Update

Hello students and families!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween weekend planned.

Going into next week’s Halloween spirit week, remember:

  1. Masks are not permitted. We need to be able to identify each other at all times for the safety of everyone

  2. Simulated (and actual) weapons are always prohibited. Again, safety.

  3. Culturally appropriative, stereotyping or hate driven depictions will not be tolerated. We are an inclusive and equity driven campus.

The Marin Prevention Network would like us to share the following information and safety tips on celebrating a safe and healthy Halloween.

Now that we’ve wrapped up the first quarter of the year, you can expect a progress report card mailed home in the coming days. Make sure to set some personal goals and get working on accomplishing them now! These quarter grades are a snapshot of how you are doing now but semester grades are what we place on your transcript and determine if you receive credit in a class. ACT NOW if your progress report indicates that you need some help before it is too late.

To reward positive behavior in the first quarter I have rewarded students with ZERO tardies and ZERO phone infractions with 30 MINGA points. Minga points will be used for students to earn prizes and privileges throughout the year! Watch the following video for more information:

COUNSELING UPDATES

Hi SRHS Seniors,

If you are applying to the California College system, remember the UC and CSU applications are due in 38 days on December 2, 2024. As a CaliforniaColleges.edu pilot school, you can upload your San Rafael High School transcript to save time, but should manually add any courses from other schools or programs.

Be sure to check your application against your transcript for accuracy. Notably, Algebra 2 may appear with extra letters, and US History may show as a FUEL class, both of which are incorrect. If you haven't started, these should be fixed for you. Biology from 10th grade is correctly listed as “Living Earth” (new course name) — do not edit this.

For extra support:

  • Join us for Application Fridays from 3:10-4:30 PM until December 2.

  • We will add another after school application support day on Wednesdays starting November 6, again from 3:10-4:30pm until the UC/CSU deadline. Counselors will be available for drop-in support in the CCC starting next week.

  • Feel free to make an appointment with your counselor or Laura French in the CCC (lfrench@srcs.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
