Good Afternoon Bulldogs & Families!
I hope you all had a restful, rejuvenating summer and are excited for a successful 2026–2027 school year!
To our new families and students joining us for the first time: WELCOME TO SR! I cannot wait to get you on campus and fully immersed in everything SRHS has to offer. In addition to this newsletter, you can expect another email today with information specific to 9th grade and new students.
We have tremendous momentum coming off last school year, and even more to be excited about as we kick off this one!
Continuing Success:
For the fifth consecutive year, our students set a record for Advanced Placement (AP) exam participation and pass rates. Over 79% of our AP test takers scored a 3 or higher, earning valuable college credit and outperforming both the California and National averages by 8 percentage points!
This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our talented staff and inspiring students. You continue to prove that SRHS is the premier place to learn and grow. Spread this news widely because it deserves to be bragged about.
Campus Upgrades & Construction Updates:
When you return, you’ll notice major transformations across campus: Our brand-new pool, both renovated gyms, team rooms, the updated PE wing, and our new multipurpose facility “The Dawg House” are ready and open!
The old Art building has been safely demolished to make way for a state-of-the-art facility that will soon house our Art, Ceramics, Drama, Media Academy, and Special Day classes.
In the meantime: art classes will be held in the portable buildings, the special day class is in the Science Building, and our media academy will be housed in LA200.
If you’d like to see our construction progress, watch this Summer Construction Sizzle Reel created by the SRCS Bond Program!
Traffic & Safety Guidelines:
As we navigate these final construction hurdles over the next few years, safety remains our top priority.
Please follow all posted signage and stay clear of fenced construction zones.
Pick-up and Drop-off should only take place in the front of the school in the 3rd Street parking lot. Please help us respect our neighbors by keeping Mission Avenue clear for local traffic.
This Week @ SR & Getting "Bulldog Ready"
This is our first edition of This Week @ SR! For the year. Our weekly bulletin is sent every Friday evening to keep you informed and prepared.
To make sure every student starts strong, we expect everyone to show up "Bulldog Ready"—prepared, focused, and ready to engage every single day.
“Bulldog Ready” means you are on time to class with each of the following items:
Something to write with (pens/pencils)
Something to write on (notebook/paper)
Your school issued chromebook & Charger Reminder: personal laptops are not supported or permitted for use on campus
Phones on the wall: Students are required to store their phones in phone cubbies in every class and will not be permitted to use their phones while on a hall pass. Students who refuse to place their phones in the pocket carriers will have their phone locked in the main office and the phone may only be picked up by a parent/guardian.
Student phone use will only be permitted during brunch, lunch and passing periods.
Parents/families: since students will not have access to their phones during class, urgent matters should be communicated through the main office.
Note: Students arriving without necessary supplies will be marked tardy and provided with what they need for the day. Continued readiness issues will lead to increased accountability.

Enjoy these final days of summer. Let’s make 2026–2027 our best year yet!
Freshmen, I’m looking forward to meeting you all on Friday, August 14th at orientation!
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors I’ll see you on 8/19.
Go Dawgs!
