| YouthTruth Survey: Coming Dec. 1 |
|
San Rafael City Schools wants to hear from you! We’re partnering with YouthTruth to hear what our students, staff and families have to say about their experiences with our schools and district.
The surveys will launch on Monday, Dec. 1 and close before Winter Break. All SRCS staff members and parents/guardians are invited to participate.
Students in grades 3-12 are also invited to be surveyed. The survey asks about student experiences on topics like school engagement, relationships with teachers and academic rigor. Your child has complete control over their participation. Not only is participation entirely voluntary, but students can skip any question they don't want to answer. There are no right or wrong answers—we simply want to hear their honest perspective. Although we want to hear from all students, participation in this survey is voluntary. Please complete this form only if you would like your child (gr. 3-12) to be excluded from the survey.
| SRCS Bond Refinancing Saves Taxpayers |
|
The District recently took advantage of lower interest rates and refinanced the District’s outstanding Measures B and C bonds, which is anticipated to save taxpayers over $500,000 in our Elementary School District and about $1 million in our High School District over the life of the debt.
The bond measures, generously approved by SRCS voters, are transforming our facilities across the district. Learn more about the construction projects.
| Every Day Counts: Attendance During Cold and Flu Season |
|
As we transition into the winter months, we are focusing on keeping our learning environments vibrant and consistent! Positive attendance is key to academic success. We also know this time of year often brings an increase in seasonal flu and other respiratory illnesses that can lead to absences.
Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective steps we can take to keep our students healthy and in the classroom. We encourage you to check the Marin Health and Human Services website for specific dates, times and locations.
Beyond vaccination, here are simple, effective ways we can work together to promote health and attendance:
- Reinforce Hand Hygiene: Please remind your students to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after using the restroom.
- Cover Coughs and Sneezes: Encourage students to cough or sneeze into their elbow or a tissue.
- When to Stay Home: If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, please keep them home. They should be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Flyer [English | Spanish]
Thank you for your continued partnership in prioritizing the health and education of our students. |

| Eyes Up Marin – Intersections Can Be Fatal |
When you drive up to an intersection, do you actively look for the most vulnerable on our streets?
- When turning left, go slowly and make a 90-degree angle with your car to better spot people in the road.
- When you turn right, check for more than cars. Someone on a bicycle may be coming up behind you, or someone on foot or a youth on a bicycle may be on the sidewalk.
- If you are a youth bicyclist on the sidewalk coming to an intersection without a stop sign, be sure to stop and look before you proceed.
Remember: Eyes Up! The campaign is part of the Street Smarts Program and Safe Routes to Schools, locally funded programs of the Transportation Authority of Marin. Learn more.
