Principal's Weekly Update

Hello Students and Families,

We are looking for parents to volunteer daily during lunch hours. We primarily would like parents to guide students to use the crosswalk to Montecito Shopping Center and back correctly.

We also are looking for parents to monitor the outdoor area. Each parent will be given instructions prior to starting. Please complete the Google sign up sheet below.

Parent Volunteer Form

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time for us to learn more about Bullying and reinforce our commitment to make San Rafael High School a safe, inclusive, and respectful place for every student.

Understanding Bullying

Bullying is defined as pervasive, unwanted, and intent to harm that involves an imbalance of power.

Bullying isn't just physical. It can be:

  • verbal (name-calling, threats),

  • social (starting rumors, excluding others on purpose), or

  • cyberbullying (sending hurtful texts, posts, or creating fake profiles)

Conflict vs. Bullying

A disagreement or argument between friends is a conflict. Bullying is one-sided, with one person using their power to hurt another.

Reporting is Not "Snitching"

Reporting is about keeping someone safe. "Snitching" is trying to get someone in trouble. If you or someone you know is being hurt, telling a trusted adult is a brave and necessary act of safety.

Tips for Parents/Guardians

  • Start the Conversation: Ask open-ended questions like, "What are the kids at your school like?" or "Have you ever seen someone being treated unkindly?

  • Know the Warning Signs: Look for changes in your teen's behavior, such as avoiding school, a drop in grades, losing friends, or becoming withdrawn or anxious, especially after being online.

  • Define Bullying Together: Talk with your teen about the school's definition of bullying and make sure they understand what it looks like in high school.

Remember

If you need help or have a question, let an adult at school know!  We are here to help!

Missing SRHS Student

Hello SR students, staff and families:

It is with great concern that I share that we recently learned that one of our students, Elizabeth Doleman (age 15), has been reported missing. If you see Elizabeth or have any relevant information, please call 911 or contact the San Rafael Police Department at 415-485-3000. Photos and information are available here.

We understand this is unsettling news, and I know we all hope for Elizabeth's safe return. We appreciate your support, vigilance and willingness to share any information you may have. If you have questions or want to discuss further, please reach out to the school administration. We will share updates as soon as more information becomes available.
