Principal's Update

Hello students and families!

I want to update you on the progress of our construction projects. For those of you following along, there were a number of delays that have pushed our projected completion dates back and I want to share those with you now. Please keep in mind that all construction deadlines are projections and may change:

  • The campus perimeter gates are now scheduled for completion this March 2025

  • Gym 1 is now scheduled to complete in November 2025 which means access to Gym 2 is scheduled to close in November 2025 for its renovation

  • Gym 2, the PE offices, weight and locker rooms are scheduled to reopen in January 2026

  • The new pool and multi-use building “Dawg House” are scheduled to open in March of 2026

Have a great weekend!

MODIFIED SCHEDULE for ELPAC TESTING 2/12 & 2/14

The ELPAC test is required for all EL students who have yet to be reclassified (reclassified means students have demonstrated proficiency in academic English in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

The ELPAC test is the most important piece of the reclassification process so it is important that our students take this exam seriously.

The ELPAC will be administered during the advisory period on Wednesday, February 12 and Friday, February 14. Students who are taking the ELPAC exam need to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school on testing days.

Please contact Assistant Principal Shannon Erby if you have any questions.

COUNSELING UPDATES

This month, students will receive information about our electives, CTE pathways, AP. and Honors courses. From February 3 through February 14, counselors will visit English classes to help students make their initial course requests in Aeries via their Academic Plans.

Later in February, we will send home a course verification letter, which allows families and students one last chance to make changes to course requests. At this time, students and their families will be asked to commit to these course requests. These requests will be granted to the best of our ability in managing our overall master schedule. Class or course conflicts may result in the inability of your student to be enrolled in all requested courses. If there is a course conflict, counselors will contact their students to discuss their options.

Students who are interested in taking AP courses will need to complete an AP Contract that acknowledges that they are expected to stay in this class the entire school year. The due date for the completed AP contracts to be returned to the counseling office is March 19th; any students who do not complete this contract will have any AP course taken off their course requests.

Students and parents should keep in mind the hours of preparation and follow through that are required for success in an advanced level course. We recommend students limit their advanced coursework to no more than three Honors or AP classes in a year. To be eligible for placement in an AP class, the student should meet specific criteria as is stated in the curriculum guide, which can be found on our school website. Some AP classes may have a summer assignment that will need to be completed prior to the beginning of the next school year.

Please be sure to take some time to discuss your student’s course requests with them, taking into consideration their responsibilities outside of school. If you have any questions or need further information about the course request process, please contact our Counseling Office at 415-485-2336.

Spring Sports Start - Monday Feb 10th
The start of Spring sports is almost here. The first official day of practice is Monday, February 10th. Below is information on practice and tryout times as well as coach contact information. Game schedules can be found on the Athletics Website in their individual team pages.
Please note that athletes in Winter sports must conclude their Winter season before joining Spring sports. Students may not participate in two seasons of sport at once. This includes trying out for a Spring sport while still playing a Winter sport. All Spring sport coaches know that they must hold three tryout days for any students joining late from Winter sports, but it is best for student-athletes to communicate their intention of joining as soon as possible so coaches are aware.
Make sure to check the path of entry for our baseball field and tennis courts as access has changed due to construction. Please abide by parking and pickup rules and avoid idling in front of driveways or in red zones when picking up your student-athletes. Students should never enter any gated construction areas.
Finally, make sure all athletes have an up-to-date physical uploaded on Home Campus before their first contest.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at csully@srcs.org with any questions.
