Principal's Update

Happy Friday Students and Families:

We are a week away from the end of our first quarter (10/18).

Students: make sure you are staying up to date on your goals this year and doing everything you can to be successful in your classes and extracurricular activities. Take full advantage of our tutorials on Wednesday and Fridays in addition to reaching out to your teachers NOW for help before it is too late.

For those of you who took on the extra challenge of an honors/AP class, it is perfectly normal for you to get nervous or want to give up at this point of the year. DON’T DO IT! Believe in the person you were when you took on the challenge. I know you can make it through!

Parents/Families: You can support your teens by checking their grades on Aeries and insisting that they reach out to their teachers themselves if they need help. Make them show you the tutorials they are signing up for on Wednesday and Fridays. Have them write an email to their teachers requesting a meeting or help them develop a plan.

A few important announcements and opportunities:

  1. Parking:
Parking is limited to staff and seniors with approved parking decals only. Towing (at the vehicle owner's expense) will begin this week for anyone parked in staff and student lots without the proper decals displayed on their windshield.

Additionally, ALL visitors must check in the main office to get a temporary
parking pass & to receive their visitor badge. Visitor parking is along the drop
    off lane only.

  1. School Site Council

The School Site Council (SSC) at SRHS is a committee of students, parents, and staff that work together to determine how best to spend up to $200,000 of Federally provided funds. Each year the SSC meets via zoom and develops four goals and allocates funding for those goals via our Single Plan for Student Success (SPSA). The SSC also reviews and approves the school safety plan and family involvement policies.

If you are interested in joining the SSC this year,
please complete this interest form by 10/18. This opportunity is for students, parents and staff. In the event we have more interest than capacity, we may need to hold an election (unlikely).

2024-2025 SSC Meeting Dates (5:30 pm via zoom):

  • October 21st

  • November 18th

  • February 24th

  • March 24th

  • April 21st

Have a Great Weekend!

Announcements & Updates

Congratulations to our two Commended National Merit Scholarship Recipients

David Balderama & Frank Faulkner.

In recognition of their outstanding ability and potential for academic success in college, NMSC honored these students by sending Letters of Commendation to them through their high schools. Although Commended Students will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some may be candidates for Special Scholarships offered by corporate sponsors.  NMSC will notify those candidates in November 2025.

STUDENT UPDATES
24-25 Bell Schedule

This week is Digital Citizenship Week at SRCS! Social media can be complicated. It connects us to friends and family, yet there can be negatives as well. The hours lost to endless scrolling, being less present in your life, to name a few.

Wellness would like to support you with one aspect of digital citizenship and that is being mindful about what you share online. We will be putting up posters all over campus with 5 Tips To Think About Before You Post. Take a look and if you have any questions or would like support on how to be thoughtful about your digital footprint, we are here to help!
