College Fairs are events where representatives from many colleges are present to provide information to interested students and parents as well as answer questions. Each college representative will be at a table with a sign designating the name of the college. On each table there will be catalogs and brochures about the college. You are encouraged to take these materials home and read them. It is also helpful to have prepared, with your name, high school graduating class date, email/street addresses, courses you are taking this year, and finally some extra curricular activities, on cards to hand to the schools that you are particularly interested in. They will start a file on you. There are workshops offered on a college related topics and frequently there are tables with information about general college planning. It is suggested that students bring a backpack or other type of bag to carry home printed materials. Bottom line, students should be prepared with questions to ask college representatives to help them begin to distinguish one school from another in terms of the characteristics that they want in a good fit school.
The same colleges attend similiar fairs at Sonoma St. University and San Francisco State the day of, day before and day after Dominican's. To get info on these fairs, you can go to: www.nacac.com
