Core Reading List

College Prep Courses 

  •  9th:  To Kill a Mockingbird; The Odyssey; The Samurai's Garden; Night; Of Mice and Men; Speak; Macbeth
  • 10th: The Lord of The Flies; The Iliad; Cry, The Beloved Country; Bless Me, Ultima; The Tempest; Alice in Wonderland
  • 11th: The Things They Carried; Into the Wild; Catcher in the Rye; The Crucible; The Great Gatsby
  • 12th: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest; The Metamorphosis; The Stranger; Hamlet or Othello; Frankenstein
  • At all grade levels students will read novels in addition to these core text.  Teachers may choose texts from a supplementary reading list, and/or students will be given the opportunity to read books they choose themselves.
  • During the reading of any novel, teachers and students will explore supplemental readings that include short stories, poetry, plays, articles and essays.
