What to expect on a parent tour
San Rafael High School offers parent tours once a month, beginning in October and ending in April. Tours begin at 8:30am and last approximately two and a half hours. During the parent tour, parent representatives from WeAreSR! and SLT give an overview of the school from their perspective. Topics can include curriculum, school safety and communication, extra-curricular activities and freshman integration into a larger educational facility. Several students speak about their experiences and involvement at San Rafael High. Principal Kit Pappenheimer addresses expectations regarding curriculum, honors/AP courses, school site safety, testing and a host of other topics. Questions are encouraged, and Principal Pappenheimer responds to them.
There is a tour of the campus as well as the opportunity to view several of the programs that are unique to San Rafael High School, such as the Broadcast Academy.
On tour dates, visitors should meet in the Main Office located in the Administration Building at 8:15 am. Tours will end at 11 am. We encourage you to schedule a tour early in the year as they do fill up.
What to expect on a student tour
Tours must be scheduled in advance by contacting the school at 485-2332.The number of students allowed per tour is limited to help ensure an optimal experience for each prospective student.
Student tours provide prospective students with an opportunity to get a general overview of the programs SRHS has to offer across all four years, as well as accompany a student ambassador to classes. The tour includes an opportunity to meet Administration and student leaders as well as a campus tour including visits to Physics, Music, Drama, Art & our Broadcast Studio. Visiting students will also have an opportunity to hear from (and ask questions of) a Student Panel representing various programs at SR including Media & Physics Academies, Music, Art, Athletics and Leadership. For the second part of the tour, visitors are matched with an ambassador who is one grade higher so they will be able to visit classes that s/he would attend at San Rafael High the following academic year.
On tour dates, visitors should meet in front of the Auditorium doors located in the Administration Building at 7:50 am. Tours will end at 12:20pm. We encourage you to schedule a tour early in the year as they do fill up.
